Welcome to Florence: Week Six
This week was a once in a lifetime experience to Rome for Easter Sunday. The start of this week was the Alceste Opera and then that week end we left for Rome. The first day we were there we saw the Pantheon and the Trevi Fountain. At the Pantheon though we went at the peak of a thunderstorm which after going the next day again we realized it cleared a lot of the tourists out of the area. By the time we got to the Trevi Fountain though the rain had stopped. On easter sunday we were up by 6am and left by 6:30am to head to St. Peter's Basilica for 10am mass. Yes, we did need to leave that early before because even then we were in a line waiting to get in. The crowd was an amazing experience because I've never seen people so eager to get a good seat for a mass. We didn't get tickets so for a while we waited in line with other people who didn't have them. We thought we weren't going to get a chair but by some miracle we got tickets and were sat in the first section. I'm proud of the pope picture I got and as of right now is the highlight of this whole trip. I absolutely loved Rome as well. It's bigger than Florence but it has so many great spots to go see. I would highly recommend anyone to go but maybe avoid it during the time of the year where tourism is high. Toward the end of April we'll be going back with the school and have a second round of Rome. I can't wait.
